Thomas is a graduate of Lockhart High School and the University of Houston–Victoria. He also played collegiate football at Belhaven College.

Coach Carl Thomas is in his second year coaching football, currently working with tight ends and kickers after previously coaching wide receivers. His coaching approach is deeply influenced by his experience as a former collegiate football player at Belhaven College, where he developed the discipline and technical foundation that now guide his coaching.
Thomas is also in his fourth year as an assistant softball coach, contributing to player development, game strategy, and overall program culture. Prior to his current role, he coached softball, volleyball, and both girls’ and boys’ basketball in Kenedy, Texas, gaining valuable multi-sport experience that enhances his cross-disciplinary coaching perspective.
In addition to his coaching duties, Thomas is a dedicated high school science educator in his third year of teaching, currently instructing Chemistry and IPC.

Thomas emphasizes building athletes through fundamentals, effort, and accountability.
